After the exceptional contract acquisition in China last year, DB International (Beijing) Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of DB Engineering & Consulting, is taking over the Tianjin – Beijing Daxing International Airport Railway project.
The service contract for electrical and mechanical engineering was signed on November 25, 2021, and DB International (Beijing) Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of DB Engineering & Consulting, will support Henan Great Wall Railway Engineering Construction Consulting as the implementation monitoring consultant (IMC).
This marks the official start of the IMC service phase, which is scheduled to take 14 months for execution, with an additional 12-month defect notification period (DNP). The project encompasses the railway line starting at Tianjinxi Station in the east and ending at Beijing Daxing International Airport Station in the west. Daxing is Beijing´s second international airport and is nicknamed the starfish for its unusual shape. The line is 100.8 km long and includes six stations and two new sections totaling 57 km:
- The section between Shengfang and Gu’andong station
- The section between Gu’andong station and the border between Beijing and Hebei province
Civil engineering for the project began in July 2020 and is currently planned to take until 2023. The overall objective of the project is to promote the coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, support regional urban construction and facilitate sustainable development of the region along the Beijing-Tianjin corridor.
By 2025, the railway is projected to carry 10,220 passengers per day in each direction. Roughly 70% of passengers are expected to make the switch to rail from cars and vans, which will reduce the carbon emissions generated by traffic by some 25,700 metric tons annually. This figure is expected to grow to more than 30,000 metric tons per year.
