Metro Kochi, India

Kochi is an important port city with about 2.1 million inhabitants in the metropolitan region. As public transport in the metropolis was mainly covered by private bus companies, this led to considerable traffic congestion in the past. For this reason a rail-bound rapid transit system was designed.

In this context, DB Engineering & Consulting assumed the function of quality and safety consultant (IQSC). In cooperation with Metro Kochi and the commissioning authority, DB Engineering & Consulting inspected all the activities and was also responsible for reporting. Construction work began in 2013 and the metro is running on a 26.61 kilometre long elevated railway line with 21 stations and a depot in Muttom.
