Environmental & Geo Services

We get to the bottom of things
Ensure every aspect of your project is on solid ground, we not only collect geo-referenced data for your construction projects, but also advise you on any and all environmental issues. Our technical teams for environmental impact design, surveying, geotechnical engineering, waste and disposal technology and environmental service will support you in implementing and completing your projects. Their processes rely on data collected with innovative methods.

Our product groups

Geodesy

For infrastructure construction projects, having reliable data is absolutely essential, meaning existing assets must be surveyed. Employing cutting-edge equipment, we collect, evaluate, review and document the conditions on the ground. Whether your project involves tracks, switches, bridges, drainage channels, platforms, catenary supports, roads, houses or vegetation, we use unmanned aircraft or scans to access even hard-to-reach areas. We are intimately familiar with planner and operator requirements, so we can prepare data to be used with Building Information Modeling (BIM).

Geotechnics

Having reliable information about the subsoil is essential to safely and efficiently implementing construction projects. Our geotechnical engineers assess and determine the subsoil conditions and make recommendations for the design and execution of laying foundations. Whether your project requires geotechnical construction supervision, hydrogeological design or expert opinions – our expertise extends to the entire rail system and ensures that we are always equipped to professionally evaluate all factors relevant to your project.

Non-Destructive Inspection

We shed light on hidden issues, helping you avoid unpleasant surprises during ongoing construction projects. Employing non-destructive testing methods, including in particular ground-penetrating radar, we inspect the condition of traffic routes and structures at a very granular level. Ground-penetrating radar provides comprehensive information about the geotechnics and building components – up to a depth of about 4 meters. This technology produces a highly detailed picture of the subsoil and the cables and pipes lying hidden beneath it, which serves as a crucial basis for additional project planning.

Waste and Contaminated Sites

According to German law, anyone engaged in construction must also properly dispose of their waste. With proper disposal, waste generated by construction projects can be recycled, thus reducing the usage of valuable resources. Our experts ensure that pollutants and waste related to your construction projects are handled properly and in accordance with the law. Whether we are providing advice on how to handle contaminated land or expert construction supervision services related to disposal, we offer you the highest level of safety by employing German Federal Railway Authority-certified construction supervisors specialized in soil and water pollution control.

Technical Hygiene

Whether on the train or in and around transportation facilities – customers and employees expect hygienic standards to be upheld. Our environmental service handles all issues related to air, water and equipment hygienics, ranging from hygienic inspections of air conditioning systems to drinking-water inspections and structural inspections after a building has sustained damage. We are an accredited testing laboratory under DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025 and an accredited inspection body under DIN EN ISO/IEC 17020.

Environmental Monitoring

Pollutants and dangerous substances can be found everywhere: in workshops and rolling stock, at work places and technical facilities. Our experts take measurements to ensure dangerous substances are identified and properly handled. We are an accredited testing laboratory under DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025 and handle all issues related to occupational safety and environmental protection, including testing for dangerous substances; assessing workplaces and interior spaces; and testing sewage.
