Szczecin rail line – Replacement construction of railroad overpasses
The section of the historic Szczecin rail line (running from Berlin to the Polish city of Szczecin) between Berlin’s Gesundbrunnen station and Bernau (near Berlin) is undergoing major upgrades. DB Engineering & Consulting has been commissioned to design three railway overpasses in Bernau (Bahnhofstrasse, Börnicker Chaussee and Weissenseer Strasse). Built in 1918 and 1919, the railway overpasses are being replaced by new-build structures at the same locations. In addition to the requirements submitted by the city of Bernau (near Berlin) and the German state of Brandenburg to widen the cross sections of Börnicker Chaussee and Weissenseer Strasse, extensive street designs prepared by the city of Bernau have been incorporated into DB E&C’s design, which also includes two noise barriers.
