DB E&C wins consulting contract for ERTMS tender documents

March 20, 2019 – 4:34 pm

In February, DB E&C was awarded the bid to review the ERTMS tender documents on behalf of the government of the Netherlands.

“The project award is a key success for DB E&C, both in Germany and abroad. It recognizes that we have the technical qualifications for the European Rail Traffic Management System (ERTMS*),” says the Head of Region Europe at DB E&C, Peter Haaks, who is pleased at the news.

The contract is for reviewing and assessing the ERTMS specifications governing the Dutch railway network’s technical equipment, which are set forth in the bidding documents. The aim is to ensure a successful ERTMS rollout program.

*ERTMS is the system for managing and controlling rail traffic on trans-European network (TEN) routes. The components that comprise it are the ETCS train control system, the GSM-R radio system used as a voice and data communications system and the binding Technical Specifications for Interoperability (TSI), subsystem for operation and traffic management (OPE)). In German-speaking areas, it meets the functional requirements formulated for train control systems.
