In October 2018, the 450 km long high speed rail link between Mecca and Medina was officially released for regular traffic. The Al Haramain high-speed trains are now operating between the two holy cities. The travel time for the approximately 14 million pilgrims per year is reduced from five to two hours. The train will reach a maximum speed of up to 320 km/h.
Since 2012, DB Engineering & Consulting has been involved in this ambitious project. More information can be found here.
