Feasibility study for high speed transport, India

The consortium of the companies DB Engineering & Consulting, Intraplan Consult and Vössing Ingenieurgesellschaft was commissioned by the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI), Berlin, to carry out an in-depth feasibility study with the aim of sounding out the basic, technical and economic feasibility of a modern and fast railway connection in the approx. 500 km long Chennai-Bangalore-Mysuru corridor.

The study presented different options regarding infrastructure, equipment and operation. In addition to a pure high-speed line (“Dedicated”), which can be implemented as a new transport system independently of the existing system, special attention was paid to the “Mixed Mode”, i.e. the integration of the new sections together with the connection and use of upgraded existing lines.
